Download
Beckon for Mac.
A signed, notarized macOS app. Install, grant a few permissions, and start talking.
Direct download link publishes here at launch.
For Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later) running macOS 14 Sonoma or later. Beckon's voice runs on the Neural Engine in Apple silicon, which Intel Macs don't have.
Setup
Three steps and you're in.
- 1
Install and open Beckon.
Drag Beckon to your Applications folder and open it. On first launch, macOS will confirm the app is signed and notarized.
- 2
Grant a few permissions.
Beckon will ask for microphone access to hear you, and for accessibility and screen recording to control windows and see what's on screen. Each permission unlocks a specific feature and can be revoked at any time in System Settings.
- 3
Say the word.
"Hey Beckon" wakes it. Or press ⌘⌥J, click the floating circle, or bind your own trigger. Start with something small — "open Figma," "find my last download," "compare mirrorless cameras under $1,000."
Permissions
What each permission does.
Every permission is optional. Beckon will ask for one when a feature that needs it is used. Revoking a permission pauses only the feature that depends on it.
| Permission | What it enables |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Wake word detection, voice commands, meeting recording. |
| Accessibility | Window management, workspace control, opening apps and projects, running keyboard chains. |
| Screen Recording | Reading on-screen context so Beckon can act on what you're looking at. |
| Automation (per app) | Sending drafts to Mail, creating events in Calendar, and other per-app actions you invoke. |
| Notifications | Delivering watch results and long-running task completions. |
| Files and folders | Reading, converting, and finding files you point Beckon at. |

Release
How updates work.
Beckon checks for updates once a day and asks before installing, with the release notes for that version. Choose "Remind Me Later" if you're in the middle of something, or check any time from the menu bar. Want new features first? Turn on beta versions in Settings → About. Some improvements arrive without an app update; you'll see a note in the app when something changes.
